This full-day private tour takes 2–8 guests from Heraklion west to Rethymno and Chania, with a return stop at Kournas Lake, covering the main historic and natural landmarks of western Crete. The vehicle and guide are reserved exclusively for your group throughout the day.
Rethymno is the first destination. The old town clusters around a small headland, with the Venetian harbour on one side and a long sandy beach on the other. The Fortezza, the large Venetian fortress overlooking the town, is visible from the seafront. There is free time to walk the harbour, explore the old-town lanes, and stop at a local café for breakfast or coffee before continuing west.
Chania follows, roughly an hour further west. Its Old Town carries layers of Venetian, Ottoman, and Greek history in its architecture — minarets alongside stone loggias, narrow lanes opening onto a preserved harbour. Free time here allows guests to wander at their own pace and stop for coffee before the group heads back east.
On the return leg, the tour pauses at Kournas Lake — the only natural freshwater lake in Crete — set in a quiet inland valley a few kilometres south of the coast road. Restaurants at the lakeside serve lunch at guests' own expense. The vehicle then continues east, returning guests to their accommodation by around 16:00.
